Vs. Northcote

From the Coaching Bench...

It’s good to finally win our first game this Season. We played against Northcote Gold and won 52 to 12. The team played well across the park. The forwards played hard and we were able to power over the Northcote forward pack winning some of their ball. The backs played well passing through the line and our defence held up as the backs marked up against their opponents.

It was nice to see some of the other boys get over the try line with Tyrall scoring his first try and Finau scoring a double. Masulu scored a nice try backing up a nice forward play.

Wayne again had a try feast scoring a whopping six tries with James Maber converting 1 of them.

Caleb got player of the day as he had a storming game making hard runs around the paddock as well as hitting the rucks and mall hard. Zane got the managers award for his tackling as he made some try saving tackles on the wing.

Les played well at full back covering well and making some nice runs. Ben who has moved from the backs into the forwards had a good game as lock. A big thank you to Connor Evans for helping out the team (he unfortunately broke his arm so is out for at least 6 more weeks) it’s awesome to see him at the games and trainings it shows a wicked commitment to the team. Terry and I plus the parent helpers are very proud of the team. We have been building week by week getting better and better and it nice to see the hard work, we have been doing at training starting to pay off.

We still need to work on our malling and rucking as we need to get in the habit of turning when we enter the contact faze. Fitness, fitness and tackling are still on the agenda though.

DON’T FORGET YOUR MOUTH GUARDS AND RUGBY BOOTS FOR TRAINING!!

What's been happening at Practice...

Fitness is ever present and it seems to be having some effect. Also looking at Rucks and Mauls- so that the support is there in the games.

I hope to score some video of the Blues at Training on Tuesday as well.

See you at the field,

Vs. Marist J2 Black

From the Coaches Bench

Well our third game is over and it was a close one for us even though we went down 19 to 25 to Marist Black. Wayne once again scored our only 3 tries with James Maber converting 2 of them (Both Terry and I challenge the other team members to score a try as well).

Ryan McIntyre was our player of the day. Ryan had a storming game making some good covering tackles and getting around the field with good energy. Logan also had a good game making some covering tackles that saved a few tries which earned him the manager’s award. Masulu worked hard at one stage making a good 60m break up the field through the opposition forward pack.

We have another new player in our team his name is Perry he played on the wing and for his first ever game of rugby did well. Over all our improvement in the team is good to see each game we get better and better and also the games are getting closer and closer. Hopefully that win won’t be to far away.

One of the things we will be working on is getting the ball out from malls and rucks as we lost a bit of ball to Marist in the game. Remember tackling and fitness is still high on the radar.
