First Game! Vs. East Coast Bays Red

After only 6 short practices the day dawned on our first game. We were 3 boys down to start with 2 being away for reasons unknown and Ben down with a skate boarding injury. The Team had their warm-up on field 3 and then headed to field one for a pep talk and the big game!

It was a pretty exciting start to the game with Wayne scoring for us right off the whistle.

Unfortunately the conversion was just missed.

East Coast Bays teams are well known for being really hard. So it was a tough team to pull for our first game. But personally I was incredibly proud of how well our kids worked together as a team!

We also suffered our first injury of the season in our first game. After making a great try Logan had to head off to A&E with a dislocated thumb! Hopefully he will be back on the field soon!

That's Logan saying "HoorayOuch!" above.

Probably half of our team members are new this year and some haven't played Rugby at all before. So it says a lot for our team that the final score margin was what it was.

The scrums went really well showing that the kids have really been listening to Terry this week!

It will be great to see the kids skills improve over the weeks ahead... I'm looking forward to seeing them get passing and move the ball out to the wings! And some hard core tackle action! (Hint hint!!)

The final score was 43-17 to East Coast Bays. Better luck next time crew!

The Managers award went to Donero for being the first to arrive, for really listening and also running hard the whole game!

Player of the day this week a well deserving- Wayne!! Wayne was our main point scorer and played a consistently good game. He is always fantastic on gaining ground for the team

Next week the team is off to Silverdale to play their Gold team- Kieran and I won't be there unfortunately so will have to beg and borrow photos and a report from someone else!

See you at the field, Gypsy
