From The Coaches Bench 18-5-10

Well we have played our first game, which was against East Coast Bays (ECB) Red. Unfortunately we lost the game 43 to 17. The team over all played well as a lot of boys are experiencing there 1st or 2nd year of rugby this year. Player of the Day was Wayne Viviani who had a very strong game making some decisive runs and breaking the line consistently. WayneLogan scored 2 tries in the game the first after making a seventy metre run. The second try coming from a busting run from 5m out with James Maber converting. Logan Lawrence scored our only other try skirting the ECB’s backline from their 22 to score in the corner. Unluckily dislocated his thumb in the process so had to go off and get it checked out. Hopefully he will be right to play sooner rather than later.

Both Terry and I were pleased with some aspects of the team play but we have to do a lot more work with our fitness and tackling which we will be working on in coming trainings.

I look forward to seeing everyone at training on Tuesday!

Clint
